Peteris Daugulis has a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Georgia (USA). After obtaining his degree, he has worked at universities in Latvia. He was a postdoc at the Institute for Medical Bio-Mathematics in Tel Aviv (Israel). Currently, he is a leading researcher at the Institute of Life Sciences and Technologies of Daugavpils University (Latvia). He is also teaching mathematics courses at Daugavpils University.
His research involves linear algebra, graph theory, discrete and continuous modelling. He has published more than 40 articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He has also written university-level mathematical textbooks. He has been a project leader for a number of educational and research projects in Latvia. He serves as a reviewer for the American Mathematical Society.
