Publication: An agent-based multi-level model to study the spread of antimicrobial-resistant gonorrhoea

We have recently published a paper on IEEE Xplore about antimicrobial-resistant gonorrhoea. We created a model to understand how gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted disease caused by drug-resistant bacteria, spreads. The model has three parts: one that looks at how people connect sexually, one that calculates the chance of infection during sex, and one that examines how the infection progresses in an individual. What makes our model unique is that it considers communities with different sexual behaviors and orientations, allowing them to interact dynamically. We calibrated our model using data from clinics in Amsterdam.
